Building The American Dream

Time flies, and it’s hard to believe I’m on a plane again already heading South to the International Builders Show and the Kitchen and Bath Industry Show. I know that I’ve been attending for over 30 years - my first show was in Houston, and I remember being overwhelmed by all of the people, products and professionals that had gathered in one place.

After consolidating the two shows, there now are really only 2 places large enough to host the shows - Orlando and Las Vegas. This year it’s back in Orlando, and I’m excited to see what the show will be like in this new setting.

Home building is such a special career and industry - you provide something that is so personal and necessary to people, and the experience of building a home can bring people together or tear them apart - I’ve seen both. Attending shows like this give building professionals not only the opportunity to be educated about what’s new, but also to network. I’m excited to be covering the show for Candy’sDirt.com and after scheduling over thirty appointments for the three days of the show, I’m sure that I’ll have a lot to talk about and share! I’m also bringing along the very talented Lisa Stewart of Lisa Stewart Photography and I’m counting on her to capture the moments and products that I might miss out on. With over 2,000 exhibitors even two of us are going to have trouble taking advantage of all of the opportunities!

The show officially starts on Tuesday January 10th, but I’ve decided to come to Orlando a little bit early so I can share what goes into making a show this big a reality and to spend some bonus time with my grand kids. To experience live what is going on at the show, be sure and follow us on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter.

We would love to hear your comments about what we see and share, and what you would like to have in your own home.
